Spotify House X SoulCycle DJ Sessions

[ Live Performance Generative Design ]

Spotify commissioned VVOX to create a responsive, generative live performance that would enhance the aesthetic and immersive experience of their exclusive SoulCycle cardio parties powered by Spotify at  SXSW 2016. Guests kicked off their mornings riding to some of the world’s best DJs a like AlunaGeorge, Chromeo, ILoveMakonnen, Neon Indian and TOKiMONSTA.

The mix of live electronic DJs, Spotify and SoulCycle makes so much sense to use Microsoft's motion-sensing camera. During each SoulCycle ride session at the Spotify House in Austin, Texas, VVOX rigged six Kinect sensors alongside each of the three interior walls to capture the movement of cyclers. The data was then transformed and projected into a responsive, triptych light and sound performance surrounding VIP guests. Seven short throw high resolution projectors were rigged above the ceiling to achieve a seamless 270 degree generative visual experience.
